After hotel check in, spend your evening by exploring the local streets of Thimphu town on foot. Enjoy the local ambiance before retiring at your hotel for the night in Thimphu.

Day 2: Full day sightseeing in Thimphu

Start the day with a hearty breakfast before embarking on the full day of sightseeing. Visit the National Memorial Chorten, a stupa dedicated to the third King of Bhutan, and explore Tashichho Dzong, a magnificent fortress and the seat of Bhutan’s government. Head to Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang) for the largest Buddha statue in Bhutan and panoramic views of the Thimphu Valley.

Explore Changangkha Lhakhang, a 12th-century temple situated on a ridge. Then, visit the Motithang Takin Preserve to see Bhutan’s national animal. Visit Drubthob Goema (Zilukha Nunnery), a peaceful monastery, and mingle with the nuns.

Finish off the day with trips to the Institute for Zorig Chusum where the traditional arts and crafts are taught, and National Textile Museum that exemplifies the textile richness of Bhutan. Finally end the visit by going to Zangthopelri Lhakhang, the monastery that holds intricate paintings. Back to the hotel in Thimphu for an overnight stay.

Day 3:Transfer to Punakha/Wang due and Sightseeing

After breakfast, depart to Punakha/Wangdue. En route visit Dochula Pass to view 108 memorial chortens and the sceneries of the Himalayas. Visit Punakha Dzong is a fortress standing at confluence of two rivers – Pochu and Mochu – and is considered a sacred place that houses several holy relics as well as a temple locally known as the Temple of Fertility or Chimi Lhakhang later in the day. Spend time at leisure followed by the overnight stay at your hotel in Punakha/Wangdue.
