About Amarnath Yatra
Amarnath Yatra is a significant annual Hindu pilgrimage that draws millions of pilgrims each
year to achieve spiritual liberation.
One of the holiest pilgrimages in Hinduism, devotees from across the globe flock to embark on
this journey and pay their homage.
Located at an altitude of 3,888 meters in Kashmir, the holy cave of Amarnath Cave is a crucial
destination for devotees who seek enlightenment and salvation. According to Hinduism, Lord
Shiva, one of the most significant deities, is believed to reside within the cave.

Two Routes to Reach the Holy Cave
There are two routes to reach the holy cave of Amarnath. The shorter route is from Baltal, while
the longer and more traditional route is from Pahalgam. The awe-inspiring journey, offered by
both routes, presents stunning panoramas of the snow-crowned Himalayan peaks, providing a
unique experience that one is likely to cherish forever.

Baltal Route
The Baltal route is the shortest and most direct way to reach the Amarnath Cave. The
suggested path is suitable for individuals who possess a sound physical condition and prior
trekking experience since it involves strenuous ascents and descents that demand considerable
effort.
The journey to the cave from Baltal usually takes around two to three days. The base camp at
Baltal is well-equipped with all the necessary facilities, including tents, medical aid, and food.
However, due to the difficult terrain, the availability of these facilities is limited.
Pahalgam Route
The longer and more traditional way to the Amarnath Cave is via Pahalgam. This path is ideal for
those who like to go at their own pace while taking in the stunning magnificence of the
Himalayas.
The journey from Pahalgam to the cave takes four to five days, depending on the weather and
hiking conditions. This route is less challenging than the Baltal route, making it suitable for
beginners and families.
